DB Has 43 Offers; Waiting on Miami

This talented cornerback prospect now has 43 scholarship offers but he's still waiting on Miami. He names his favorites and explains what he's looking for in a college choice. Where do the Hurricanes stack up against the competition? Read on to find out.

At 6-foot-2 and 180 pounds, Daytona Beach (Fla.) Seabreeze standout running back/cornerback Kenny Scott has enjoyed a strong start to his 1-1 season.

In his first game, he played primarily on defense and finished the game with 9 tackles, two pass breakups, and one caused fumble. In the team's second game, he played mostly running back finishing with 21 carries for 191 yards and two touchdowns.

"We're looking good," Scott said. "I'm playing on both sides of the ball and I've gotten off to a pretty good start."

Scott, a full academic qualifer with a 1000 SAT score, said he's enjoying the recruiting process so far.

"I'm taking it day by day," he said. "I'm trying to feel out the entire process and see where I'll fit in the best."

Scott said he's already received phone calls this month from a who's who of college football in the South.

"Pretty much every team in the Southeast has called me," he said. "Florida, Florida State, Miami, Georgia, South Carolina, and also teams like Michigan and Notre Dame have all called."

Scott talked about some of his current favorites.

"I'm still looking at Florida State, Florida, Georgia, Georgia Tech, North Carolina, N.C. State, South Carolina, Tennessee, Notre Dame, and Auburn," he said. "I'm trying to narrow it down from there."

So what about the Hurricanes?

"Miami's not really near the top because they are very deep at my position," he said. "I don't like my chances of going in and playing early there. I want to go somewhere that I can play early. Miami signed six defensive backs last season and that's not a good thing for defensive backs they're trying to get this season. Plus, Miami hasn't even offered me yet. I have 43 offers now and Miami isn't one of them."

The talented cornerback prospect talked about his official visit plans.

"I haven't planned any yet," he said. "I was supposed to go up to South Carolina this past weekend for an unofficial visit but something came up and I couldn't make it. I'll make my decision on official visits over the next two weeks or so."
