Standout DL Strongly Favors UM

This talented pass-rush specialist has gotten off to an excellent start to his season. That's one of the reasons why he's had numerous college coaches calling his house this month. One of them is Miami and he explains in this interview why the Hurricanes are the clear leader among his college choices right now.

Camden (N.J.) Woodrow Wilson has a pair of extremely talented bookends on defense - Turk McBride and Elijah Robinson.

At 6-foot-3 and 255 pounds, Robinson has teamed with McBride to help the team to a 26-0 win in its season opener. Robinson said he registered seven tackles and three sacks in the opener last Saturday.

Robinson, who will be taking the SAT for the first time in October, said recruiting has been going well also.

"A lot is still the same," Robinson said. "I'm still leaning strongly to Miami. Coach Greg Mark stopped by here last week and me and Turk are going to be setting up an official visit to Miami real soon. Miami is still on top."

The talented defensive end said Mark also called on the phone. He's also talked to several others since Sept 1.

"Miami called, Maryland, Rutgers, Virginia, Boston College, Indiana, Minnesota, Iowa, and West Virginia are most of them," he said. "After Miami, I also like Virginia, Rutgers, West Virginia, North Carolina, and UCLA. I have a trip set to UCLA for October 27."

Robinson talked more about his current favorite.

"They're getting real close to offering," he said. "They wanted to see my first few games and they're still talking to me. I saw their game against Florida and loved it. They were real impressive. It was good to see [former Woodrow Wilson standout] Jamaal [Green] play so well. The majority of their defensive line is seniors so it'll give the new guys a chance to go in and help right away."

So what are the chances of Robinson and McBride playing together? Robinson says that's very likely.

"Nine out of 10 chances say we'll play college football together," he said. "That's the plan. And right now, we both have Miami as our top choice so if they offer us both, Miami looks real good."
