Elite RB Favors UM

This super talented running back prospect has been breaking rushing records this entire season and now he's chasing the state touchdown record. He talks about the season, the recruiting process, and why the Hurricanes are his current favorite.

Pompano Beach (Fla.) Ely is off to an excellent start this season, as they're 3-0 and currently ranked No. 1 in the Class 5A state rankings. The biggest key to their success is tailback Tyrone Moss, who's been breaking records all season.

With several county rushing records, Moss talked about his two biggest goals this season.

"First is to keep winning and help my team win the state title," Moss said. "And second is getting the state touchdown record."

Unfortunately, Moss is nursing an ankle sprain that may cause him to miss Friday's game against South Plantation.

"I actually hurt it the week before," he said. "It was swollen all week and I tried to play on it. It didn't work out and someone twisted it on purpose. I'll be back though."

Moss, who said he's fully qualified academically, took in two football games this past weekend.

"I went to the Canes game on Saturday and then the Dolphins game on Sunday," he said. "I went with a bunch of my teammates to the Orange Bowl Saturday night. It was a lot of fun as always. They really poured it on in the second half. Willis McGahee has been outstanding. The atmosphere was great and Miami has everything going for them."

Moss said he's already spoken to UM coaches three times this month.

"UM still leads," he said. "They have a great program and they always have great running backs. But I want to take some other visits before making my decision."

So aside from the Hurricanes, which other schools might Moss visit?

"I haven't even decided yet," he said. "I'm still wide open on the others. I'm just trying to enjoy my senior season and hopefully win a state title."
