Calif. Standout Has UM in Top 2

This talented prospect from the state of California currently has the Hurricanes in his top two. Find out what he likes most about the Hurricanes and which other schools he plans to visit.

At 6-foot-5 and 300 pounds, Chula Vista (Calif.) Bonita offensive lineman Russ Foster is coming off an impressive win last weekend in Las Vegas.

"It was a lot of fun playing over there," Foster said. "We were pretty tired after the game so we didn't really do much. I'm playing mostly offense but a little d-line. We're 1-1 right now and things seem to be back on track."

Foster has been working hard inside the classroom trying to raise his grades.

"I took some core classes over the summer and got an A and a C," he said. "I think my core is a 2.3 right now. I got an 850 on my SAT but I'm re-taking that next weekend. I'm also taking the ACT real soon. That's been a real focal point for me lately."

Foster has also been busy talking to college coaches this month.

"A lot of coaches have been calling me at home," he said. "Just this month, I've talked to Arizona State, Colorado, U of A (Arizona), Nebraska, Colorado State, Washington, Miami, Oregon, and Oklahoma. U of A is still my only offer but a lot of the coaches said they like me enough on the field to offer but they're just waiting to see what my test scores are like next month."

Foster talked more about the Hurricanes.

"I talked to Coach Kehoe last week and he said they're ready to offer except they need to see my test scores," he said. "I've always liked Miami. They have a great program, great tradition, and always have a good offensive line it seems. They're definitely going to be one of my visits."

So has that visit been set up yet?

"No," he said. "But I'm getting close to doing that. U of A, Miami, and Colorado - I told those three schools that I'll be visiting. I'm not sure on the other two just yet. I like my favorites all the same, except the two I like most right now are Miami and U of A."

Foster said he has enjoyed watching a couple of Miami's first few games this season.

"I watched the Florida game and thought it was good," he said. "Miami pretty much dominated and showed who the better team was. I also watched a little of the Boston College game on Saturday and they played well in that game, too."
