2003 Baseball Schedule Released

The University of Miami baseball team will open up its 2003 schedule against cross-town rival FIU on Wednesday, February 5th at 7 p.m. at Mark Light Stadium.

The 2003 schedule features 22 games against teams that qualified for last year's NCAA Tournament. Additionally, the schedule includes 35 games at Mark Light Stadium with another 20 on the road.

The home schedule is highlighted by visits from 2002 College World Series participant Georgia Tech (3/28-30), Tony Gwynn-coached San Diego State (2/21-23) and annual rival Florida State (4/18-20).

Also coming to Mark Light Stadium in 2003 will be Campbell (2/6-8), The Citadel (2/28-3/2), Rutgers (3/14-16), Stonybrook (3/19), Boston College (3/21-23), FAU (4/2), Oral Roberts (4/4-6), Pace (5/2-4) and Savannah State (5/16-18).

Miami will play six three-game series on the road in 2003, along with single-game contests at FIU and at the Homestead Challenge. The Hurricanes will start the road portion of the schedule at Florida (2/14-16). Miami upset the Gators in last season's Regional championship to qualify for the South Carolina Super Regional.

The Hurricanes start preparation for the 2003 season when fall practice opens on Thursday, November 7th at Mark Light Stadium. Practice, which will consist of 12 daily sessions, will run through Scout Day on Saturday, November 23rd. These sessions are open to the public.
