Super DE Likes Everything About UM

One of the top defensive end prospects in the state of Florida, this talented player said he likes "everything" about the University of Miami. Read on to find out what he means by that, how his season's going, where the Hurricanes stand on his current list, and what his cousin (a current Hurricane) is saying.

At 6-foot-4 and 248 pounds, Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) Dillard standout defensive end Stanley McClover has helped his team to a 2-2 start this season, even though McClover feels as if they should be better.

"We've had way too many turnovers," he said. "Like against St. Thomas last week, we had two fumbles just on punt returns and two on offense. You cant turn the ball over 4 times and expect to beat anyone good."

McClover has been playing very well from his defensive end position. In four games, he has 30 tackles, seven sacks, and three caused fumbles.

"I've been playing alright," he said. "I put on a little muscle right as the season started and got up to close to 250. That's really helped me because I became stronger and didn't lose any quickness."

McClover, who scored a 19 on the ACT, said he'll be taking the SAT in late October.

"Recruiting is still wide open," he said. "I'm still trying to figure out what I'm going to be doing. I still get the weekly calls from all the schools as before - UM, LSU, Florida, N.C. State, Michigan State, and Tennessee."

So which schools does the standout defensive end like the most?

"I really couldn't say right now," he said. "They're all going neck and neck. I have offers from all of them so I need to start setting up some trips."

There has been some conflicting reports on other web sites regarding whether or not McClover has been offered by the Hurricanes. He cleared that up.

"Some dude asked me if Miami sent me something in the mail," he said. "I haven't gotten that yet but Coach Hargreaves offered me over the phone. If a coach tells me I have an offer, I believe it. Miami has offered me and so have the rest of the ones that are calling."

McClover said he's only set up one trip so far.

"I set one to go to N.C. State on December 6," he said. "I guess they're trying to get some of us [from south Florida] in there the same weekend. That's the only one I have so far but I'll be setting up the rest real soon."

The next unofficial visit McClover will make has him very excited.

"I'm definitely going to the Miami/Florida State game," he said. "I can't wait to see that one. I'll be going as a recruit for Miami and I'm sure it'll be a great game and lots of other recruits will be out there."

McClover, who ran a 4.69 at this year's NIKE Training Camp on grass, said he's being recruited to play linebacker by LSU and Michigan State. "The rest of them want me as a defensive end. It doesn't really matter to me."

So being wide open, does McClover have any possible favorite?

"I grew up a Florida fan," he said. "That's when I was watching football growing up. But with recruiting, things have changed. I don't really have a favorite now. Miami has everything. They have the whole thing going for them and they're doing everything right right now."

McClover is a cousin to current UM linebacker Darrell McClover.

"I've talked to him," he said. "He's running with the second team right now but he said he'll be starting next season if DJ leaves."
