Robinson Quits Team

Redshirt freshman wide receiver George Robinson has decided to quit the University of Miami football team. Read on to find out why...

Head coach Randy Shannon announced on Tuesday that redshirt freshman wide receiver George Robinson has quit the UM football team.

"He wanted to pursue another career with his life," Shannon said. "We support him in that decision and wish him the best."

Robinson redshirted in 2006 and suffered a torn ACL during an October practice. Getting passed on the depth chart this month by younger players didn't help his cause.

Robinson was rated a two-star wide receiver prospect coming out of Miami Central High a couple years ago. He finished his senior season there with 20 catches for 383 yards and two touchdowns.

Robinson visited Miami in late January and was offered following the visit at a time when the Hurricanes were getting turned away by most of their top flight wide receiver recruits at the time.
