9/25 Injury Update

Read on for the latest injury updates on the Hurricane football team, according to head coach Randy Shannon...

Defensive tackle Josh Holmes will return to action this week for the Hurricanes. Holmes was competing for a starting spot during fall camp before sitting out the first four games of the season. He'll add much needed help at the defensive tackle position.

Senior linebacker Romeo Davis should see action on special teams this week. He's been competing on the scout team in recent weeks and Shannon believes he'll finally be on the field this Saturday. Davis has started several games at linebacker in his career but the emergence of Tavares Gooden in the middle will likely keep Davis out of the starting lineup for at least awhile.

Cornerback Glenn Sharpe is coming along but still waiting to make an impact. His injury has pushed him behind some other players at the position. Sharpe played against FIU but didn't see any action against Texas A&M last week.

"Don't know yet, a long ways off," said Randy Shannon whene asked about the possibility of redshirting senior running back Charlie Jones. A former starter at the running back position, Jones is out with an injury and hasn't played any this season. His status, as Shannon said, for the rest of the season is still unclear.

Senior linebacker Glenn Cook just got his boot off. Shannon said, "it depends, maybe two weeks away before he is running around". Cook has starting experience and was likely going to land a starting spot before getting injured before the season started.
