Kyle Wright Talks About Visit

The nation's top quarterback prospect made his official visit to Miami this past weekend and he talks all about it, including several recruits he met and talked with at the game.

At 6-foot-4 and 195 pounds, Danville (Calif.) Monte Vista standout quarterback Kyle Wright made his official visit to Miami this weekend shortly after helping his team extend its perfect record to 5-0.

"We won 40-21 and I suffered a mild concussion," Wright said. "I got hit in the back of the head. It wasn't that serious and I actually threw a touchdown pass on the next play. When I came to the sideline, I didn't even know what happened. I asked my coach if we had scored."

Wright threw for 242 yards and scored three more touchdowns. His team has a big game Friday against Foothill High.

Wright also talked about his visit to Miami.

"I went with my parents and we had a great time," he said. "I was treated very well and had a real nice time all weekend. We sure ate well."

Wright said there was really no highlight to his trip, just the overall experience and having the benefit of being committed this time.

"Just being around there was nice," he said. "It was very relaxing. I didn't have to worry about the recruiting stuff because I had already made my decision. There was no stress and I could just relax and have fun."

Wright, who visited UM over the summer with his father, said his mother also enjoyed the trip.

"She liked it a lot," he said. "She is definitely happy that I'm graduating early and will have a chance to go in there early."

Wright, who was hosted by Sherko Haji-Rassouli on the first night and Eric Winston on the second, said he enjoyed meeting some other recruits.

"I met the Ely kids and I talked with them a lot," he said. "We got along real well. Andrew, Cyrim, and Tyrone were great guys. We were jumping up and down and high-fiving each other the whole game. They're good guys and I hope they come to Miami with me. I also got to meet and spend time with David Patterson. I think Miami has a great chance. His mom wasn't sure about the distance part at first but they both seemed to really enjoy it. He's a good guy and I hope he picks Miami. And I also met Derrick Morse. He's a great guy. We sort of played phone tag a little bit so it was nice meeting him."

So now what happens next in regards to UM and Wright?

"Coach Werner and Coach Coker are coming out here to visit with me and my family the week after the Virginia Tech game," he said.
