LB May Visit UM

This out of state linebacker prospect was recently told by his head coach that UM's Randy Shannon had requested game tape and a phone number for him. He's excited and read on to find out what he likes most about the Hurricanes and who else is involved.

At 6-foot-2 1/2 and 227 pounds, Vacaville, Calif. standout linebacker Thomas Williams has helped his team to a 4-1 start this season by making a lot of plays on the defensive side of the ball.

In those five games, Williams has 60 tackles, six sacks, four caused fumbles, and two fumble recoveries.

"We have a lot of talent on our defense," he said. "We have a lot of balance and it really gives me a chance to make plays because teams don't run away from me as much."

Williams, a full academic qualifier, then discussed his recruiting situation.

"Mainly, I'm getting closer and closer to telling some schools I've narrowed my list," he said. "I've set up some trips to SC, UCLA, Nebraska, and Notre Dame. Those are four that still call a lot and they know I'm interested. Other schools like Arizona, Cal, Fresno State, and San Diego State still call too."

So who will get the fifth visit?

"I'm actually saving it to see what happens with Miami," he said. "I haven't talked to them on the phone yet but they contacted my coach recently and asked for my game tape and number so I'm hoping to hear from them real soon. I like Miami a lot and would definitely visit there if they offered it. I really like their defense and overall program."

Williams said all the schools on his list are even and he won't name a favorite until after his visits are complete.
