New name: Canes chasing another big timer

CanesTime.com has learned that the University of Miami is actively recruiting a four-star player from out of state who is a new name to UM recruiting fans. Read on for more. You don't want to miss this...

I just found out that UM is all over a kid from King High in Detroit. His name is Nick Perry.

He went to the US Army Combine and was 6-4/210 and ran a 4.5 on an electronic clock there.

He transferred to King High as a senior and helped lead them to their first ever state championship. He was outstanding for them this season. He was the Detroit Player of the Year. He finished the season with 147 tackles, 36 sacks (state record), 68 TFLs (state record), and had 14 catches for 310 yards and 8 touchdowns on offense. He also carries a 3.3 GPA.

He played TE/WR on offense and all over the place on defense (mostly DE/OLB).

UM was in for an in-home visit the first day they were able to be (the Sunday after the BC game) and are expected to return this week.

I'll try reaching him for an interview but I wanted to mention him because he looks like a big time player who has some interest in Miami and is definitely a kid they're recruiting hard. Below is an article from their local newspaper (their coach has had 9 who went to play in the NFL so those are some strong comments). You can watch his video on the bio link below that.
