4-star TE Planning His Visits

Dwayne Allen is one of the top tight ends recruits in the country. Allen took some time to update the status of his commitment and talk about his experience at the annual North Carolina versus South Carolina Shrine Bowl.

"I had a great time at the Shrine Bowl," said Allen. "It was a good experience. They did not throw to the tight ends much during the game, but it was a good experience even though we lost."

The 6-foot-4 240 pound tight end made an early commitment to the University of Georgia and updated the status of that decision.

"I am committed to Georgia . I am not really considering any other schools at this time, but I have not visited anyone besides Georgia yet. The Georgia visit was great. I got to bond with the coaching staff and the players."

That has not stopped other schools from recruiting one of the best prospects in the state of North Carolina .

"I have had coaches from Florida State (John Lilly and Chuck Amato), Miami (Marquis Mosley and Patrick Nix), North Carolina , South Carolina (Brad Lawing), Georgia , NC State, Virginia Tech(Charley Wiles), and Clemson(Chris Rumph) visit me so far. The visits went well. They will help me decide which official visits to take."

The Fayetteville , North Carolina native remains a top priority for the Hurricanes, who do not have a tight end committed yet.

" Miami has a great coaching staff. Coach Barrow who is recruiting me is a great guy. I like the tradition at Miami . It is one of the schools I am looking at."

Allen who also plays on his school's basketball team( Terry Sanford High School ) plans to make 4 more visits by signing day.

"I am going to take all my visits. The only school I will visit for sure is Virginia Tech. I am not sure about the other 3 visits yet."

Allen had 30 receptions for 300 yards and 4 touchdowns his senior season and his team finished a disappointing 6-6. He remains committed to Georgia , but is keeping his options open. Whichever school lands Allen will not have to worry about him getting into school.

"I am qualified academically. I have a 3.0 core GPA and a 1040 on the SAT."
