Super DE Sets UM Visit

This talented defensive end prospect has a load of scholarship offers and he recently scheduled two official visits, including one to Miami. Read on to find out the unique way he researches the schools on his list and get his thoughts on the Hurricanes.

At 6-foot-5 and 240 pounds, Baltimore (Md) Gilman standout defensive end Victor Abiamiri has been playing very well for the state's top ranked team this season. In eight games, he has nine quarterback sacks. Inside the classroom, he was a full qualifier before the season started.

Abiamiri, who doesn't turn 17 until next summer, also talked about the recruiting process.

"I'm pretty much trying to wait until after the season to start getting totally into it," Abiamiri said. "I have set up two official visits but I'm not sure on the other ones yet. I have Notre Dame on the 6th of December and Miami on the 13th of December. I'm still trying to figure out my other ones. I still like Maryland, UCLA, Michigan, and a few more."

Abiamiri said he learns the most about the different schools on his list through weekly phone calls from college coaches and by researching them online.

"I ask a lot of questions when the coaches call," he said. "And I look online and do some research. I'm deeply involved in getting to know more about each school."

So what types of things does the standout defensive lineman look for when researching?

"Well, I need to go to a school that's big on academics and I found that they're all strong," he said. "After that, I just imagine to myself how will I fit into each one. Based on the ones I've narrowed it down to, I think I can fit in to all of them. Now I just have to take my visits and I'll pick the one that I click the best with."

So what does Abiamiri think about the Hurricanes?

"Just look what they're doing on the field every week," he said. "That's amazing. You have to like that. I'm really excited about my visit. Coach Hargreaves and I have been talking and he's a good guy and I'm really looking forward to checking things out and he told me they're looking forward to having me."
