Big recruiting weekend is underway

There are two recruiting weekends left before National Signing Day and the Hurricanes are taking full advantage of them. Eleven prospects from all over the nation showed up on Friday for their official visits and CanesTime.com breaks it all down for you.

QB Taylor Cook, 6-7, 205, Altair (Texas) Rice Consolidated

Other Schoos: None

Primary Recruiter: Patrick Nix

Interest Level: Committed to Miami

The Skinny: Cook made a very early commitment to Miami after landing a scholarship from the Canes last spring. He never wavered on his commitment and never took any other visits. He's still recovering from a knee injury he suffered in the last game of the season but expects to be 100-percent within a couple weeks.

WR Thearon Collier, 5-9, 160, Miami (Fla.) Booker T. Washington

Other Schoos: None

Primary Recruiter: Wesley McGriff

Interest Level: Committed to Miami

The Skinny: After making an early commitment to Auburn, Collier switched his commitment to Miami after landing an offer from the Canes shortly after his performance at their summer camp back in June. The MVP of the Dade/Broward All-Star game last week never wavered on his commitment and never took any other visits.

WR Davon Johnson, 5-11, 170, Miami (Fla.) Booker T. Washington

Other Schoos: None

Primary Recruiter: Wesley McGriff

Interest Level: Committed to Miami

The Skinny: Johnson made a summer commitment to Miami but that didn't stop other schools from recruiting him. He took an official visit to Florida back in September but never seriously considered the Gators. He has talked about possibly visiting South Florida on the last weekend but he remains a firm commitment to the Canes.

WR Martavious Odoms, 5-8, 175, Pahokee, Fla.

Other Schools: Auburn (11/23),South Florida (1/11), West Virginia (1/18), and Michigan (2/1).

Primary Recruiter: Clint Hurtt

Interest Level: Medium

The Skinny: Odoms was offered by Miami during his outstanding senior season. He's already taken visits to Auburn, West Virginia, and USF and he has one left to Michigan. Since the Canes are loaded with receivers in this class already, it'll be interesting to see if they find room for Odoms. We'll know a lot more about this situation after the weekend.

TE Brandon Moore, 6-6, 245, Trotwood (Ohio) Trotwood-Madison

Other Schoos: Michigan (11/17)

Primary Recruiter: Jeff Stoutland

Interest Level: Medium

The Skinny: Moore made a spring commitment to Michigan after landing several other offers, including one from Miami. The Canes began recruiting him again after the season and were able to convince him to take a visit. He's very interested in the Hurricanes and how much they use the tight end so it'll be interesting to see how things shake out, especially if he leaves this weekend with a scholarship offer.

DL Jeremy Lewis, 6-3, 280, Palm Beach Lakes, Fla.

Other Schoos: Tennessee (10/27), Clemson (1/18), and North Carolina (1/11)

Primary Recruiter: Clint Hurtt

Interest Level: Committed to Miami

The Skinny: Lewis made a summer commitment to Miami but that didn't prevent other schools from recruiting him. He took official visits to Florida and Tennessee during the season and then he visited Clemson and UNC in recent weeks. He remains committed to the Hurricanes and the visit this weekend should put the final stamp on things.

LB Brandon Marti, 6-1, 205, Miami (Fla.) Gulliver Prep

Other Schoos: None

Primary Recruiter: Micheal Barrow

Interest Level: Committed to Miami

The Skinny: An early commitment to Wisconsin, Marti was recruited by the Hurricanes during the season and then when he was offered a scholarship in late November he switched his commitment to the Canes. He hasn't taken any other visits since then and remains a strong commitment.

LB Marcus Robinson, 6-2, 220, Homestead, Fla.

Other Schoos: Southern Cal (11/30), Florida State (1/11), and LSU (11/9)

Primary Recruiter: Micheal Barrow

Interest Level: Committed to Miami

The Skinny: One of the state's most heavily recruited players this year, Robinson committed to Miami early in the process but still took other visits. He went to USC, LSU, and Florida State but told CanesTime.com earlier this week that he's "not really" considering any other schools. He may squeeze in a late visit to USF next weekend but the Canes have a firm commitment from Robinson.

CB Brandon Harris, 5-10, 175, Miami (Fla.) Booker T. Washington

Other Schoos: Florida (9/15), Ohio State (1/11), and LSU (10/6)

Primary Recruiter: Wesley McGriff

Interest Level: High

The Skinny: Harris is a major priority for the Hurricanes. He's a five-star local player at a major need area for the Canes. He's already taken three visits and may see UCF next weekend but the Canes will have a great chance to lock things up this weekend. Harris is expected to announce his final decision on Signing Day. The Canes appear to be in good shape here.

CB Alonzo Lawrence, 6-0, 180, Lucedale (Miss.) George County

Other Schoos: Alabama (1/11) and Ole Miss (1/18)

Primary Recruiter: Joe Pannunzio

Interest Level: Medium

The Skinny: One of the nation's top cornerback prospects, the Hurricanes began recruiting him towards the end of the season and convinced him to visit. He's been high on Alabama from day one and they, along with Ole Miss, appear to be the team to beat. A good visit will go a long way in convincing him to sign with Miami. He plans on announcing his decision on National Signing Day.

S C.J. Holton, 6-1, 190, Crawfordville (Fla.) Wakulla

Other Schoos: None

Primary Recruiter: Micheal Barrow

Interest Level: Committed to Miami

The Skinny: Despite making a spring commitment to Florida State, Coach Barrow never stopped recruiting the four-star safety. It paid off, too, as Barrow convinced Holton to switch his commitment to Miami. He didn't even take an official visit to Florida State, as Miami was his only one. He is a strong commitment for the Canes.

Stay tuned to CanesTime.com throughout the weekend, as we'll have post-visit interviews from the players as well as analysis from the weekend and much more.
