"I just got back from my visit, I love it," Marti said. "I've been to campus before, but never for an in-depth thing. I was able to see a lot of new stuff from the dorms to the academic builds, the lake, the food court, everything."
This visit wasn't the first for Marti, but it was his first with such an elaborate tour of the school.
"Everything was real good, I was able to tour everything and got to sit down with the Arts and Sciences advisers to talk, because I am majoring in pre-med, so that was important," Marti said. "I spent a lot of time with the recruits that visited with me and with the guys who enrolled early like Arthur Brown, Marcus Forston, Sean Spence, and Jacory Harris."
Marti (6-foot-1, 200 pounds) was hosted by linebacker Darryl Sharpton.
"He is a real cool, funny guy," Marti said. "With him I was also able to spend time with Spencer Adkins and Eric Houston."
He was also able to have his 1-on-1 with head coach Randy Shannon.
"He told me to just enjoy the rest of my senior year," Marti said. "For me to do what I want, and run track, just keep the speed up and when I get there Coach Swasey will put the weight on me that I need."
Marti also met the Hurricanes new defensive coordinator, Bill Young.
"I also met some of the new coaches like Coach Young, he was real cool, I like the guy," Marti said.
Marti discussed his role that he will be looking at for the Hurricanes this season.
"They want me to come in and play special teams right away, but I will compete and do my best," Marti said. "They are looking forward to seeing me on special teams."
On the visit, Marti tripped with several un-committed players, like Trotwood-Madison High School (OH) tight end Brandon Moore.
"Moore was in my group when we toured the Arts and Sciences building, he really liked his visit," Marti said. "When we talked it was between Miami and Michigan, but because of the coaching change, he really wasn't sure about them. I think he definitely liked his visit. He came here with his mom and dad. It didn't hurt that when he left Ohio it was six degrees out and when he got down here it was 80."
What makes Marti the most excited about being a Miami Hurricane?
"Just the tradition that is there," Marti said. "We went over to the Edgerrin James Room and met with the President (Donna Shalala) and she talked for a bit, then after we talked with out advisers there, they showed us a clip that the NFL made for the University that showed all of the players the program produced and how a lot of them come back and help out the players. Also, that Miami swagger that they all have. Just everything (for them) is tied to Miami."
Marti was also able to visit Dolphins Stadium.
"Dolphins stadium was real cool, I've been there plenty, but we now got to go into the press boxes and the suites and the locker room."
