Axon, 6-foot-1 and 185 pounds, put his name on the recruiting map as a junior last season. He finished the season with over 1,000 yards and 20 touchdowns. He talked about what separates him from other backs.
"I don't go down on first contact," he said. "Coaches say I have great feet and that I use my jump cut well. I have speed, moves, everything. My goal is to become the best running back in the state of Florida."
The talented junior, who also runs track, talked more about some of the schools on his wish list.
"Clemson and Florida State would be at the top," he said. "I'm a Christian and I like the Bowden family and how they do things. I like the tradition at both of those schools. At Clemson, I went to an FCA Camp and really liked it. I've been talking to the O-Line coach a lot. Florida State, I grew up liking them."
In addition to those two, Axon has his eyes on several other schools who are showing interest.
"I also like South Florida, Central Florida, Florida, and West Virginia because I think they're getting close to offering too," he said. "I like South Florida a lot. I went and saw three games and talked to the coaches. It's close to home and my running backs coach played for them."
Axon knows what he'll be looking for in a college when it comes time to make that final decision.
"The environment around the team and the academics," he said. "I can play football anywhere and you never know when that'll be taken away so you gotta be comfortable at the school when you're not playing."
Axon carries a 2.4 GPA in the classroom and plans on testing for the first time this Saturday.
