Hankerson talks about his strong spring

Sophomore wide receiver Leonard Hankerson is having an excellent spring so far and CanesTime.com caught up with him after practice on Wednesday to talk about the latest.

Q: There has been a lot of talk about you playing well this spring. How have you had so much success this spring?
A: I am not really sure. I just work hard every day and let the rest take care of itself. I am just going out there and laying football just like I always have.

Q: What do you think the fans will see tomorrow from the offense?
A: I think fans will see some explosion on offense. They will see some good things. They are just going to have to wait and see.

Q: What is your weight right now?
A: I am at 218 right now. I was 195 when I got here.

Q: Do you feel like a different player with all the weight you have gained since high school?
A: I feel the same. I feel good. I feel like I am just as fast. The added weight is going to help me be a more physical receiver.

Q: A lot of the young players on this team are from winning programs. What is the attitude of the younger guys on this team?
A: A lot of us coming from winning high schools and we bring that same winning mentality here. We are used to winning and we expect to win. Our success in high school is not really going to help us on the field, but it did give us a winning attitude.

Q: How have the rotations been so far?
A: I have been on the first unit a lot. Sam Shield is opposite of me a lot, but it is always changing. The units change every day.

Q: How have the QBs looked so far?
A: They are all looking great. They are all doing well. There is no drop off between the three.

Q: How are the WRs progressing?
A: We are all coming along well. We are all learning from each other and teaching each other things. We are always hanging out.

Q: How has the new defense looked?
A: They are playing with a lot of energy. They are making a lot of big plays. The line is doing a good job. They really try to confuse the offense and make big plays.
