3/22 Scrimmage Report

The Canes scrimmaged for the second time this spring on Saturday morning and CanesTime.com was there for all the action. Read on to see what took place.

-The defense dominated the start of the scrimmage. The Canes started 18 drives on their own 2 yard line.

-Allen Bailey, Marcus Forston, and Darryl Sharpton had 3 safeties on those drives. The Canes offense was only abe to get a few field goal attempts on those drives. Wesley and Ojomo also had a couple of sacks.

-Chavez Grant had an interception, which is becoming a very familiar trend.

-Bruce Johnson had a pick 6 off Marve. He took it 65 yards to the house.

-Marcus Forston got a lot of time with the first string defense. Joe Joseph and Antonio Dixon were the other 2 tackles that participated.

-In the second half of the practice, Randy Shannon moved the offense up and the Canes were able to connect for several touchdowns.

-Graig Cooper had 3 touchdowns. All three were runs inside the 20 and he made a couple of defenders miss on one of the scores.

-Derron Thomas had 2 touchdowns. Both runs were from the 5 yard line.

-Sam Shields, Kayne Farquharson, Chris Zellner and Richard Gordon all had TD receptions. Harris threw the TDs to Shields and Gordon.

-Dedrick Epps had a 60-70 yard reception that led to a Cooper touchdown.

-Khalil Jones was praised his performance as he had several receptions.

-Hankerson and McKenzie had a couple of drops today.

Participation Report

*Javarris James did not practice, because the coaches wanted to get a look at other backs.

*Shawnbrey Mcneal was held out because of the flu.

* Colin Mccarthy and Courtney Harris were dressed without pads and watched from the sidelines.

*Lovon Ponder did not participate.
