Super WR "Loves" Miami

This standout wide receiver prospect has started to narrow his list and Miami's on it. Read on to find out what he likes most about the Hurricanes, where they rank on his current list, and get his thoughts on the possibility of playing early.

At 6-foot-2 and 190 pounds, New Orleans (La.) O.P. Walker standout wide receiver Craig Davis has played all over the field for his 8-1 team this season.

In the team's first three games, Davis played quarterback. Since then, he's had 40 receptions for 530 yards and eight touchdowns as a wide receiver. He also returns kickoffs.

Davis, who is trying to improve on his 16 ACT score, has narrowed his list of college chocies down to six.

"It's funny," Davis said, "I never really told anyone what my top five or six was or whatever, but the only schools that still call me a lot are the ones I had in my top 5 or 6. It's like the other coaches knew or something."

So who are the final six?

"I'm still considering Miami, Florida, LSU, Clemson, Tennessee, and Auburn," he said. "I go for a visit to LSU on December 7 and I will probably be going to Miami on January 24."

Davis talked more about the Hurricanes.

"They're the ones that haven't offered yet," he said. "I'm hoping that I play good enough down the stretch that they do. Coach Johnson is trying to get me and Darryl [Johnson] down there on the 24th of January. It's not official yet but it will be real soon. You can mark it down for the 24th."

Davis said he's been impressed with the Hurricanes this season.

"They're undefeated so far and they have a good chance to win the national title again," he said. "If they offer me, there's a good chance I'll pick Miami. I love Miami. I'd love to go there. But if things don't work out, I have some other real good choices."

Davis was asked about his thoughts on playing as a true freshman.

"I'd like to play as a freshman," he said, "but I understand how hard it's going to be, especially if I go somewhere like Miami. It's all going to depend on how hard I work and I promise you that I'm always going to work for everything I get."
