At 6-foot-4 and 245 pounds, Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) Dillard standout defensive end Stanley McClover is having the type of season he wanted to have, in a way.
"We're 6-3 right now and have a big game against Ely this week," he said. "Even though I have 80 tackles and 23 sacks right now, I was hoping to have a better record at this point."
McClover, who is a full academic qualifier, talked about the recruiting process.
"It's going pretty smooth so far," he said. "I went to Michigan State two weeks ago for an official visit and had fun. It didn't blow me away or anything and they just lost Bobby Williams. But I still like them in my top five. I have Auburn next weekend for their game against Georgia. I went to their camp so I'm excited to see what it's like for a game situation. Then I have N.C. State for December 6. I guess that's a week they're bringing in a lot of guys from down here."
McClover said he's considering three other schools for his final two visits.
"I'll also be making a visit to Florida but we haven't got it scheduled yet," he said. "My last one will be to either Miami or Tennessee."
The standout defensive end said he saw a story recently that didn't include Miami among his favorites. He cleared up any confusion.
"Oh most definitely," he said. "Of course I'm looking at Miami. They up there. I like Coach Hargreaves. They're in my top five, but the three I like most right now are Florida, Auburn, and N.C. State. But that's without taking those visits though so we'll see what happens."
