Super TE Talks Recruiting

This standout tight end prospect talks about the recruiting process, where Miami ranks on his current list of favorites, and of his visits thus far.

At 6-foot-5 and 245 pounds, State College, Pa. standout tight end Jonathan Stupar saw his team's season come to an early end last week when they didn't make the playoffs.

"We had some really difficult games to play early in the season and we weren't able to win them," he said. "We played a very difficult schedule and the way the new playoff system works, strength of schedule doesn't matter."

Stupar said being knocked out early has put him in an unfamiliar situation.

"It feels wierd being out of the playoffs this early," he said. "I even went to basketball tryouts this week. I've been a varsity starter since my sophomore year and I've never gone to tryouts because of football playoffs."

Stupar, a full academic qualifier, said he has four official visits out of the way.

"I've been to UVA, Arizona State, Iowa, and Florida State," he said. "I really enjoyed all of them. They're all nice places. Now I'm just trying to figure out where my fifth visit will be. It'll probably be to either N.C. State or UCLA."

Last month, Stupar received a scholarship offer from the University of Miami and talked about making a possible visit to UM.

"I was thinking about visiting them but then I realized how late they came into the picture," he said. "They still call me and talk about me coming down for a trip but I don't think I'll visit them. I feel like I want to go some place that has wanted me all year, from the beginning.

At Miami, I'm thinking maybe they lost out on someone else so they started recruiting me. That's why they're not real high on my list right now."
