Standout DT Likes UM

This talented defensive tackle prospect likes the Hurricanes among his favorites. He talks about the latest in this interview.

At 6-foot-2 and 260 pounds, Chino, Calif. standout defensive tackle Sedrick Ellis is gearing up for his final regular season game Friday.

"We're 7-1 right now," he said. "We have this one and then the playoffs start. I'm really happy with the way we're playing this year."

Ellis said he doubles as a fullback.

"Last year I was used pretty much as a blocker," he said, "but this year, I've gotten a few more carries here and there. Still not enough (laughing). I had 22 tackles on defense last week and I think I have close to 60 now with five sacks."

Ellis, who is fully qualified with an 820 SAT score, talked about the recruiting process.

"I'm taking my first trip this weekend to LSU," he said. "They're playing Alabama so it should be a great weekend for football. I can't wait. Then I'll be going to Oklahoma, Oregon, USC, and UCLA. I haven't picked my fifth one yet. I want to visit Miami but they haven't been in touch with me for a long time so I guess that won't be happening."

Ellis talked more about the situation with Miami.

"They've always been one of my top choices," he said. "Maybe it's because I'm from so far away that they decided not to recruit me harder. They have to do their thing, and I can't sit around and wait for them."

Ellis said two schools top his current list.

"I like the two schools out here," he said. "But the two I like most are probably Oregon and Oklahoma because they're winning the most. It's all about winning to me."
