At 6-foot-5 and 295 pounds, Hamden (Conn.) Hyde Leadership standout defensive tackle Richard Kittrell is gearing up for a run at the state title.
"We have two regular season games left and then the playoffs get started," he said. "We're undefeated and I've been playing real well."
Kittrell, a full academic qualifier, also talked about the recruiting process.
"It's been going well but I still am pretty wide open still," he said. "I won't really narrow it down until after my season, or even after my visits."
The standout defender has already taken one visit and has two others lined up.
"I went to Michigan State early on and really liked it," he said. "Even without their coach, I still like them. I go to Iowa on December 16 and I have Maryland for a weekend in January. I haven't decided on my other two yet, maybe Miami and a few others."
Kittrell talked more about the Hurricanes.
"They still have been calling here," he said. "But I'll be honest, it all sounds the same to me when the coaches call. Miami might be one of my visits but I'm not sure yet. Obviously it's a good program."
