When the University of Miami opened fall camp on Saturday with its first practice, five of the incoming freshmen were unable to participate.

Those five players were defensive tackle Jeremy Lewis, defensive back Joe Wylie, safety C.J. Holton, defensive end Gavin Hardin, and linebacker Brandon Marti.

All five still have NCAA Clearinghouse issues that need to be satisfied before they can begin practicing with the team. Shannon said he doesn't know when they'll know for sure.

"We will not know anything about them until at least Monday," Shannon said after practice on Saturday.

Four of the freshmen -- offensive lineman Brandon Washington, safety C.J. Odom, and linebackers Antonio Harper and Zach Kane -- plan to enroll at Milford Prep this fall and won't be expected at UM until January at the earliest.
