News & Notes: 8/15

Here are some news and notes surrounding the team for Friday, August 15th.

* After having Thursday off from practice, the Hurricanes will return to the practice field tonight for a 6pm scrimmage.

* For the first time since Media Day, the quarterbacks will be made available to speak to the media. CanesTime.com will get their thoughts following the scrimmage.

* Several veterans, such as Javarris James and Graig Cooper, will be limited in tonight's scrimmage. The coaches are trying to develop some of the younger players and better evaluate them to see how they'll be able to help the team this season.

* Randy Shannon announced on Thursday night that Joseph Wylie has been cleared by the NCAA. That leaves just linebacker Brandon Marti as still waiting. The Hurricanes signed 33 players in last year's recruiting class and all but five of them are now enrolled in school.

* While several players have missed practice time here and there, the players who are out right now are offensive linemen Chris Barney and Chaz Washington; and defensive linemen Josh Holmes, Courtney Harris, and Allen Bailey.

* Several players, including Anthony Reddick, Tommy Streeter, and Cannon Smith, have missed practice time this week but are expected to go for tonight's scrimmage.
