"Your actions are accountable. I made a mistake. I'm sorry for what I did. It was an accident. I'd take it back if I could. I believe in Coach Shannon and he said I needed to do this. It's best for the team and it's what I'm going to do."
Do you wish Coach Shannon would have punished you a lot sooner rather than now?
"I trust whatever he did. I'm proud to be here. I messed up. He didn't mess up. I messed up. It's best for the team and I'm here for them."
Is it a bit of a shock after ten months to be suspended now?
"I messed up. I'm just proud to be here. I'm having a great time out here playing on the scout team. I'm having a great time with everything. I'm taking it very well. It is what it is. I talked to my parents. I'm taking it in the most positive way. I believe in the coaching staff here. I believe in this team and I think it's the best thing for the team."
Coach Shannon said you knew the rules and knew this was coming. What do you have to say about that?
"The rules are set for everybody. I knew what the rules were and I violated them. I'm just another player on the team."
You won the starting quarterback job but won't be starting the first game. What's that like?
"We're at the University of Miami. I'm very proud to be here. I have great coaches around me and great players. I'm here for the team right now. I'm only thinking about Charleston Southern but at the same time I am proud to be the starter. I've got to do the best thing for the team right now and that's being a cheerleader for them so that's what I'm doing."
What do you think it's going to be like to get your first start in Gainesville against the Gators?
"I'm not thinking about Gainesville. I'm thinking about Charleston Southern. I'm thinking about what I can do to help them. We're not playing the Gators now. We're playing Charleston Southern so that's where my focus is at."
In Thursday's game, will you be involved at all? For example will you be doing hand signals?
"I'll be doing something. I might be passing out water but I'll be doing something. I can promise you that."
