Johnson just wants to have fun

True freshman Aldarius Johnson is listed as the backup to starter Leonard Hankerson on the depth chart. Read on to see what Hankerson is saying about his development, this week's game, what he plans to accomplish this season, and much more.

Q: How excited are you about Thursday?

A: I am very excited. I have gotten used to college life already and now I cannot wait to take the field for the University of Miami. I am going out there to have some fun and help the team.

Q: How do you feel about being 2nd on depth chart as a true freshman?

A: It's a great thing. I am behind a veteran (Hankerson) that I can learn from and continue to become a better player. It motivates me and I know I still have to improve. When I get my chance I am going to make the most of it.

Q: How do you feel about your high school teammate Jacory Harris getting the start?

A: I am kind of shocked. I really did not know until today. It was a tight battle for QB and I am just going to have my fun with Jacory while I can. We are just going to go out there and make it happen.

Q: How do you feel about Coach Shannon saying that both quarterbacks will play in every game?

A: I feel that is the best thing. They are both great quarterbacks and I enjoy playing with both of them. They can both lead this team.

Q: How do you feel about the suspensions?

A: I do not really have a lot to say about that. I know they have to stay motivated and come back ready for the next game.

Q: How do you feel about having so many freshmen on the depth chart?

A: I think that is a very good thing. We have adapted to the college atmosphere and we are all ready to show what we can do.

Q: Have you given any thought to the fact that you are opening your college career at the same place you won your first state title and the site of the national championship?

A: I have not given much thought to that. It is kind of interesting though. We are just staying on the next play or next practice. We are not getting ahead of ourselves.

Q: How special is it to have 4 members of your high school team on the depth chart already?

A: It is a real exciting thing. It makes us happy to know our hard work is paying off and now we have to show why the coaches are giving us this chance.

Q: What do you guys know about Charleston Southern and how hard is it to not overlook them?

A: We do not know a lot about them because they have a new defensive coordinator. We are focused on them and them only. We know we have to take it one thing at a time.

Q: What are your goals for this season?

A: I just want to go out there and have fun. I want to block for my running backs and catch some balls. I want to go out there and fly around and have fun just like I did in high school.

Q: How good can this team be?

A: We can be a very good team. We just need to stay focused and take it one game at a time.
