Broward Standout Talks Recruiting

This standout from Broward County provides an update on the recruiting process, including where the Hurricanes currently stand.

Deerfield Beach, Fla. standout place kicker/punter C.J. Koegel appeared to be one of the two finalists for the scholarship offer that was given to Brian Monroe on Sunday. Despite that, good things continue happening for Koegel.

"We lost to Venice on Friday which was unfortunate," he said. "We had a good season but it ended a little early. Now I'm getting ready to play in the North/South all-star game."

Koegel finished the season averaging 47 yards per punt.

"Florida came by the school the other day," he said. "I know they got Eric Wilbur to commit but they said he's going to be a field goal kicker and they still might need a punter. That was exciting and I had an incredible practice that day."

Koegel said he hasn't heard from UM in awhile.

"It's been awhile since I talked to them," he said. "I guess it's time to start looking at other options. Washington called my house. I haven't set any dates, but I'm going to visit Boston College, Washington, and Central Florida."

Koegel said over 80 Div 1 and 1AA schools are expected to be at All-Star practices in the coming weeks.

"If a good school offers, I'm going to take it," he said. "I really like Miami but I need to start looking at other options."
