Canes 52, Charleston Southern 7

Miami opened its season with an impressive 52-7 win over Charleston Southern in the first game at Dolphins Stadium.

Jacory Harris was living a dream. He grew up in Miami and had a lifelong dream to play quarterback at the University of Miami. He was living out a dream on Thursday night, starting his first college game in a Hurricane uniform. It went well for Harris and his Miami teammates.

The Canes had over 400 yards of offense, while holding the Bucs to barely over 100. Two quarterbacks saw action. Seven wide receivers and two tight ends caught passes. All five running backs carried the football. Two fullbacks saw action. The offensive line used a lot of guys and the defense played a ton of kids on the evening.

While Charleston Southern will likely be the worst team on UM's schedule this season, it was a good start for the Hurricanes. There weren't a whole lot of penalties. There were no major injuries. And wasn't it fun watching so many of the true freshmen who helped UM to a top 5 class this past February in action tonight?

It was good seeing a decent turnout at Dolphins Stadium and it was good seeing the Canes back in action for the 2008 season.
