Marve very excited for Saturday

Robert Marve has never taken a snap in college football and he'll get his first opportunity in a big time environment this weekend in Gainesville. Read on to see what he's talking about just a few days before the big game.

Q: How excited are you about getting your first start at UF?

A: I am very excited. It does not matter who the opponent is. I am very excited about getting back on the field and getting to play.

Q: How have the last two weeks been for you?

A: It has been kind of weird, but I trust the coaching staff here and I am just ready to move on and play some football.

Q: How well do you know Tim Tebow?

A: We talked a few times when I was in high school. We talked when I was getting recruited. He is a great player and I look up to him.

Q: How much of you coming here had to do with wanting to help rebuild this program?

A: A lot of it actually. At Tampa Plant, I help take us from the bottom to the top. It is a great thing to be part of an upswing of a program. I just want help us to get us where we need to be.

Q: Does it help knowing Florida will only have high school tape of you?

A: It's just a game. I am just going to try to have some fun. I have not played football in a while and I just can not wait to get back out there.

Q: The last time you played was the State title game. What are your memories about that?

A: It was a great thing. It was in Miami which was also great. The last pass I threw in a game was a touchdown pass, but it is time to move on now. I just want to help this program win by getting the ball into the playmakers hands.

Q: Is the pressure of you guys this week considering how big of underdogs you are?

A: Not really. I put a lot of pressure on myself. I do not care about how much of an underdog we are. At 8 on Saturday none of that matters.

Q: What are your thoughts on playing in the Swamp?

A: It is going to be loud and it is a big stadium, but it is still football. It is the same as when we were kids it is just a little bigger and nicer now. It is just a game that we have been playing our whole lives a stadium does not change that.

Q: Are you going to have butterflies going in there?

A: Of course I am. Everyone does, but I am going out there to win the game. I have a lot of friends on this team I do not want to let down. I am ready to get the ball to my playmakers and help this team win.

Q: What are your thoughts on UF defense?

A: We are watching film and we are preparing, but I am not worried about how they played last year or anything like that. We are just going to go out there and play Canes ball and get the ball to our receivers.

Q: Did you watch the UF game on Saturday?

A: I did. They are a great team. They are number 5 and they could easily be number 1. They have great players on both sides of the ball. They are a great team.

Q: Are you happy to be opening up with them?

A: Honestly I could care less. I just want to play. I just thank God for this blessing. The car crash was a scary thing and I am just happy to be able to play some football again.

Q: You have not been hit in a long time. How is that first hit going to feel?

A: Honestly, I can not wait. I tell the guys all the time I hope someone knocks the crap out of me. It is part of the game and I have not been hit in a while and it is going to be fun.

Q: Miami has not lost in the last 6 meetings vs. UF. Is that something that is talked about?

A: Yes, we know about it, but honestly that is the past. That is not going to help on Saturday and we just need to worry about winning Saturday.

Q: What have you learned from Coach Nix in this past year?

A: It is not really the answer you're looking for, but I have learned to trust him. My relationship with my coach is very important to me. I know I can throw the ball and play this game, but being able to trust a guy when the bullets are flying is a special thing. He is a great Xs and Os guys and he really lets us do our thing in his plays. I trust him on and off the field and I am going to do everything for him.

Q: How excited are you after seeing all those receivers contribute on Saturday?

A: It is nice when your running back can pick up a first down on 2 and 10 also. I knew our receivers were great in camp. I tried telling you guys during camp, but obviously you do not know until you see them. I just want to get them the ball and let them make plays.
