At 6-foot-1 and 195 pounds, Hahnville, La. standout defensive back LaRon Landry finished his season 13-2 this season while playing both quarterback and free safety. The standout athlete had over 2,000 total yards on offense and seven interceptions on defense.

"I play free safety and that's what the colleges want me to play," Landry said. "We start up basketball next week, then I'll run track so hopefully I can stay pretty active."

Landry, who is re-taking the ACT next Saturday, said the recruiting process is starting to heat up some.

"Basically, I like six schools still," he said. "They are LSU, Miami, Florida, Indiana, Tennessee, and Colorado. All of them call me about each week and I'm interested in all of them right now."

Landry said he's getting ready to take his first official visit.

"I'm going to LSU this weekend," he said. "Although I haven't set any up yet, I'll probably also visit Colorado, Indiana, Miami, and Florida as well."

The standout defensive back talked more about the Hurricanes.

"Coach CJ has been callin each week, just checking up on things," he said. "Miami's a place I've always wanted to play and they've offered me so they must like me enough. I'll probably take a trip there in January."

Landry said an in-home visit is scheduled with Coach Johnson next week. How much work is needed?

"Actually, I'm real high on Miami right now," he said. "A lot of people think I'm going to stay around here but there's about a 50-percent chance I'll go down there."
