Fox: "We gave ourselves a chance..."

Hurricanes LT Jason Fox sat down with the media after Saturday's 41-39 loss to Florida State. Read on to see what he had to say about the weather, his touchdown, and more.

On the Ups and Downs of the offensive line versus FSU...
It was a rough night. To tell you the truth, with the weather it was kind of rough. Sometimes it felt like we were picking it up and sometimes you turn around after the play and (Robert) Marve or Jacory (Harris) is on the ground and I don't know where it came from, but we could have done a better job at picking it up. They are a talented team...we just need to watch the film and improve on it.

On his touchdown catch...
I remember it being called in the huddle. I don't remember how many calls were made on the field but I was already grasping for air. I had a smile on my face, but I wish I had more air in my lungs. Coach Nix texted me in the middle of the week and said we will score on the tackle throw back. I've been begging him to run that ever since he got the job and he told me he was going to run it. We did...and it was successful...too bad we still came up short though.

How gassed were you after the play?
I just knew I had to step it up for one more play...

Are moral victories getting shallow?
Losing hurts. You can't say this or that when the bottom line was that it was a loss. I am happy with our guys fighting to the end, it is just if we would have done a better job during the beginning of the game and other parts of the game we wouldn't have to make plays at the end of the game. We gave ourselves a shot and didn't give up...we need to come out and do better next week.

On the comeback...
There was no doubt in my mind that we would come back in this game. I just kept telling everyone on the sidelines "hold on, we're going to come back..." and somethign special will happen and we fought throughout the whole game, we just came up short.

The first half was rough. Coming into the locker room we all knew we could play better and that is it, we came out and played better and made some plays. We made a lot of good plays on offense and special teams some big plays on defense. We gave ourselves a shot to win the game.

On the weather...
That is just one aspect of the game. You can't blame anything on the weather. That is just the way it is. We need to learn how to adjust.
