Tuesday's Injury Update

The University of Miami is a banged up football team right now. Read on, as CanesTime.com has the latest update on the injuries and what to expect in the coming weeks.

Starting out with good news on the injury front, the Hurricanes expect to get running back Javarris James back this week. He hasn't seen any action since spraining his ankle in the first quarter of the Florida game. Getting James back will be huge because it'll give Miami an excellent 1-2 punch with him and Graig Cooper.

At wide receiver, true freshmen Tommy Streeter and Kendal Thompkins are expected to miss the rest of the season due to injuries. They will both take redshirts this season.

The news on the offensive line surrounds Reggie Youngblood. According to Coach Shannon today, Youngblood is expected to miss the rest of the season. The good news here is that Youngblood has never redshirted so he'll be eligible to receive one for this season.

Moving over to the defensive side of the ball, the news isn't good with senior defensive end Eric Moncur. After starting slow this season due to injury, the talented defensive end is now expected to miss the rest of the season. Shannon said he's definitely out for the next three games but doesn't expect him to return at all. "He's just done," Shannon said.

Courtney Harris and Josh Holmes both remain out along the defensive line as well and aren't expected back this season.

Junior linebacker Colin McCarthy will miss the rest of the season, Shannon announced. Again, like Youngblood, the good news here is that he hasn't used a redshirt season yet for the Hurricanes. Reserve linebacker Romeo Davis will return to action this week after not dressing for the FSU game due to injury.

In the secondary, senior Randy Phillips is expected to miss the rest of the season. Like McCarthy and Youngblood, Phillips has not yet redshirted and could return for a fifth season next year. Vaughn Telemaque is also out in the secondary.

* Shannon said Eric Moncur is out for at least the next three games but could be done for the season. "He's just done," Shannon said. * Romeo Davis is back this week. He listed all the players on the LB depth chart and the only LB on the roster not mentioned was Brandon Marti.
