Scouting/Video: Lamar Miller

Lamar Miller is one of the top overall prospects in the state of Florida this year and he certainly looked like it last Friday night against Lakeland.

At 5-foot-11 and over 200 pounds, Lamar Miller has ideal size for a running back. He finished in the top 10 in the state 100m track meet this past spring and ran the fastest time at Florida's FNL Camp last summer so speed is certainly one of his strengths. The kid can flat out run. He returns punts and kickoffs too and even played quarterback late in the game for the Cougars.

Miller is a downhill runner who can go between the tackles, break tackles, and finish his runs. He also has the speed and explosiveness to hit the outside, as shown by his first run of the game, which went for 66 yards and a touchdown. The thing I really liked about Miller is how hard he was running late in the game. He was taking a pounding from a very talented Lakeland front seven but he just kept coming and coming. His last few runs were just as impressive as his first few. He also caught a couple balls out of the backfield and threw some nice blocks at times.

Miller looks like the total package at running back and is worthy of five-stat status, in my opinion. Miller finished the game with over 150 yards rushing, 27 receiving, another 50+ in the return game, and a couple touchdowns against one of the fastest and most talented defensive teams in the entire state of Florida.
