Super DB Talks Recruiting

This standout defensive back is preparing to play in the CaliFlorida Bowl in early January. He will also be in attendance Saturday when the Hurricanes battle Virginia Tech and he updates us on the 'Canes and his other favorites in this interview.

At 6-feet and 185 pounds, Jacksonville (Fla.) Ed White standout safety Dee Webb recently finished his senior season with 450 yards passing and four touchdowns along with 645 rushing yards and 15 touchdowns. He also had eight interceptions on defense.

Webb, who is just 10 points shy on the SAT, said the recruiting process is starting to heat up now that his season's over.

"Florida State and North Carolina have sent coaches by here already," he said. "My recruiting coach from Florida is coming tomorrow and my recruiting coach from Miami is coming on Sunday."

Webb said he has four official visits lined up and one unofficial trip.

"I'm going down to Miami this Saturday to watch them play Virginia Tech," he said. "I can't wait to see them in person. I grew up a Miami fan and watching them play in the Orange Bowl will be awesome. I'm taking my official visit there on December 20. I have Florida scheduled for the week before that, FSU for January 10, then North Carolina on the 17th. If I take a fifth one, I'll probably check out Oklahoma."

The standout defender said although he'll likely take five trips, his decision will likely come down to three.

"I'm trying to stay in-state," he said. "I mean, look at the schools in Florida. They're all great programs."

So which of the three have the edge?

"I don't even know yet," he said. "I really like them all and I think I can play early at all three places."

Webb talked more about the Hurricanes.

"They tight," he said. "I think I'll be able to play early. They'll probably lose both safeties after next season and their backups aren't very experienced. I think I'll be able to fit in and they do a great job developing defensive backs."

Webb is now preparing to play in the CaliFlorida Bowl in early January.

"I can't wait because I hear there are going to be some great players in the game," he said. "I wish the No. 1 quarterback they say is from California [Kyle Wright] would play. I'd like that challenge."
