Super LB Sets UM Visit

The standout linebacker's visit to UM next weekend will be his first of the year. He talks about his visit with us in this interview.

At 6-foot-1 and 225 pounds, Brandywine (Md.) Gwynn Park standout linebacker Wes Jefferson recently finished his season after losing in the first round of the playoffs.

"The break we got from the sniper thing really threw us off," he said. "The team we lost do didn't have that break so it sort of gave them an advantage. We played well but unfortunately came up a little short."

Jefferson, who finished the 10-game season with 151 tackles and 10 sacks, finished with 321 total tackles over the last 20 games of his career. He's now getting ready to play in the county all-star game.

"We started practice this week but then school got shut down because of all the snow," Jefferson said. "You have no idea man, there's about eight inches of snow on the ground right now. If the game is next Saturday, I won't be able to play because I'm going to Miami."

The standout linebacker's visit to UM next weekend will be his first of the year.

"I can't wait to check out Miami," he said. "I'm flying down and my dad's taking a train down. We'll see what Miami's about. I can't wait to get out of this snow so that should be fun. Miami's definitely on my list."

Jefferson said he'll take all five visits before making a final decision.

"I won't rush into any decisions," he said, "but sometimes it gets pretty crazy. Just this week I had a bunch of coaches coming by here to talk with me and meet my parents and everything. I'm also gonna visit Maryland, Notre Dame, and Ohio State. I haven't decided on the last one yet."

Jefferson, who does not have a favorite, said he plans to check out all his options.

"I'll take five trips and after that, I'll know exactly where the best place for me is," he said.

Jefferson will be getting an in-home visit from UM coaches next week.
