Q&A with Jason Fox

Jason Fox has been one of Miami's top offensive performers this season. Read on to see what he's saying as the team continues preparing to take on Virginia tomorrow.

Q: How important is to establish the running game on Saturday?
A: We have to establish a good running game. We'll keep working to do that. We have a dominant O line and we feel we can run the ball on anybody, and we're going to continue to work on that.

Q: How important is this game after last year?
A: Every game's important. This is an important game because this is our next game. We need this game to do what we want to do. Especially after the embarrassing game last year at the Orange Bowl, everyone is taking that personally. This is a big game for everybody.

Q: Is the word revenge popping up?
A: That word and a lot of other things. This is definitely a game that everybody should get fired up for.

Q: What went wrong in last year's loss to Virginia?
A: That was last year. What's done is done. All we can do is look at this game, focus on doing the right things so we'll be successful this year.

Q: Why is this team different from that team that lost last year?
A: We've got a lot of guys that care now and everybody is working toward the same goal. When you get a big group of guys that care for each other and about doing the same things then good things will happen. We're still a young team. There's still a lot of things we can get better at. The main thing is that we're working to get better, and we're on the right track.

Q: From a protection standpoint, what challenges does the 3-4 defense present?
A: It's just different. It's not harder, easier. We're going to have to do a good job in pass protection and in the run game. It's just learning their scheme, how we're going to approach it different than we would a different defense. It's just mental, not harder or easier. It's another opportunity to learn for us.

Q: How meaningful was getting that fifth win this past Saturday?
A: It was a good game. Wake Forest is a good team. We still made mistakes, but overall we made enough plays to pull it out.

Q: How nice would it be to get back to a bowl game?
A: That's definitely on everybody's mind right now. The biggest thing we have to focus on is just winning this game. Those things will come. We have to just take it one game at a time. I know sometimes when you look at the big picture it's easy to slip up. You have to take it one game at a time.

Q: What has Virginia done to turn their season around?
A: They've done different things. They almost have a new blitz every game. They're going to probably do something against us that they've never done before that we'll have to adjust to. That's just them. They started off slow, but they've been on a roll these last couple of games, have won four in a row. They're playing pretty good football. That means we have to take the next step and prepare and be ready on Saturday.
