Game Predictions

The Hurricanes will take on Virginia in a key ACC Conference game today at noon. The writers of offer up their predictions on the game.

The Canes need this victory to stay alive in the hunt for an ACC Championship Game appearance. They also need this win to break the two-game losing streak against Virginia. The Cavs have been playing well lately. Their four-game win streak includes a big win on the road against Georgia Tech. Miami is coming off a big victory against Wake Forest and looks to be picking up steam. The last time Miami visited Charlottesville they lost 17-7 but this time I think Miami will come out victorious. The Canes have been road warriors this season winning all but one away game and in that loss they were in the game for three quarters against the #5 team in the country. I think the Canes will execute their game plan and continue their success on the road with a win over UVA. -- Miami 28 Virginia 17

The Canes will certainly have a revenge on their mind when they take the field on Saturday and what better way to do it than by knocking Virginia out of the first place in the ACC Coastal division. Miami should be able to establish Graig Cooper and Javarris James on Saturday versus Virginia's 71st ranked rushing defense, which will keep the pressure off of Miami young receivers and quarterbacks. I expect Miami to jump out to an early lead versus the Cavaliers and cruise the rest of the way as Virginia's 109th ranked scoring offense does not have the fire power to mount a comeback. With a win a Saturday the Canes will find themselves in the think of the ACC Title race. -- Miami 31 Virginia 13

The Hurricanes are on a nice three-game winning streak right now but Virginia has a four-game winning streak of their own going. This will be Miami's toughest test during that stretch. While many people believe the Canes will have the revenge factor going for them, Virginia will have the confidence factor going at the same time. Both teams seem to be getting better each week and on paper, it looks like it'll be a close game. In the end, the Canes simply have too many athletes -- too much speed -- for the Cavs to defend. I think that'll be the difference in what I think will be a tight game. -- Canes 23, Virginia 20
