UM to Visit WR on Monday

One of the nation's top wide receiver prospects, this standout is one game away from winning a state title. He talks about that as well as the recruiting process in this interview.

At 6-foot-1 and 180 pounds, Tampa (Fla.) Jefferson standout wide receiver Andre Caldwell has led his team into the Class 4A state championship.

"We got one more to go," he said. "This is what we've waited for all season. Palm Bay's a great team so it should be a great challenge."

Caldwell, who has a 2.8 core GPA and a 16 on the ACT, took the SAT for the first time this past Saturday.

On the recruiting front, Caldwell said things are pretty much the same.

"I really haven't thought much about it lately," he said. "All I've been thinking about is winning the state championship. That's most important to me right now."

Caldwell said he likes all the in-state schools right now.

"I like the three Florida schools in Florida," he said. "I know that I'll visit all three of them and I might take another trip, I don't know yet. All the ones in Florida are pretty even. They all have good programs."

The standout wide receiver talked more about the Hurricanes.

"Man, Miami's awesome," he said. "They're losing some receivers and I could probably play early. They're a great program and will be playing for the national title again next month. They're coming by to visit with me tomorrow. Miami's definitely one of the places I'm looking to go."

Caldwell is scheduled to visit the University of Florida on Dec. 20.

"I'll take my other visits in January," he said. "Yeah, Miami will be in January but I don't know exactly when yet."

Caldwell, who will likely play in the Army All-American Game next month, was asked about teammate Rashaun Grant.

"He likes Miami too," he said. "He's going for a visit there too."

The standout wide receiver said he'll start to look more into the recruiting process after next weekend.

"That's when I'll start to sit down and see what I need to look at," he said. "They're all good places and I'll need to take my trips and see what's the best one for me."
