UM Lands Huge Commitment

The University of Miami landed its top running back prospect this evening. We have all the details of this latest commitment. Read on to hear to get his thoughts on why he picked the Hurricanes.

"I committed to Miami just a little bit ago tonight," Tyrone Moss said moments ago. "I just felt it was the best place for me. I was getting sick and tired of all the recruiting stuff and decided to get it over with."

Moss said he made it final when Coach Curtis Johnson made an in-home visit with him tonight.

"Coach CJ came by and we closed the thing out," he said. "I'm really excited. I've always wanted to be a Hurricane. He basically said we can end it right now and I said lets do it."

Moss said he's very excited about becoming a Hurricane.

"It's a great program," he said. "Everything about it is excellent. They're always playing for championships. And it seems like most of the players on the team now are getting drafted, at least more than anyone else. It's a perfect fit for me."

The standout running back said he took in the Va Tech game on Saturday.

"I went down there and had a great time," he said. "It was a great game. Seeing them clinch a spot in the title game, watching Willis run for all those yards, it was all good. Plus I got a chance to listen to Jimmy Johnson give a pre game speech. He basically talked about playing your heart out and giving it everything you got. He said that's what it's going to take to win a game like that. They went out and did that."

Moss, who will make his official visit to UM on Jan. 17, said he'll now wait to see what Willis McGahee does.

"He might leave, he might not," he said. "It doesn't really matter. I'm going to go in and compete and earn playing time my freshman year no matter who is there. It's just a perfect situation for me."

Moss said he hopes the Canes can continue to win the way they have been.

"They're getting everyone," he said. "All the top players are going to Miami and I wanted to be a part of that. Hopefully we'll win some championships."

Moss and his Ely teammates will play for a state title this Friday against Wharton H.S.
