Things have changed.
"I'm no longer committed to Rutgers," Bunche said. "I'm still considering them but I'm not committed to anyone. I just wanted to open up to new opportunities and be free. I'm now considering Miami, Rutgers, Maryland, and probably UConn. They're all even right now."
Bunche, 6-foot-6 and 320 pounds, was being recruited by linebackers coach Mike Barrow but now Coach Stoutland is getting more involved. Stoutland visited with the talented big man on Monday.
"That went real well," he said. "I like Coach Stoutland a lot. He's very personal. He's a great coach and he's a great person to talk to. I loved our conversation. I'm going down there later this month for an unofficial visit and I can't wait to see how he coaches on the practice field with his players."
Bunche, whose mom lives in Jacksonville, plans to see Miami a couple times in the next couple months.
"I'll be going down for an unofficial later this month," he said. "I'll get to see them preparing for their bowl game. Then my official visit will be in January sometime. I'm visiting Rutgers this weekend and Maryland on the 19th. I'm not sure about UConn yet."
The talented senior talked about what he likes about each of the schools on his list.
Miami -- "Miami played tough this year for having so many freshmen. You can tell they need offensive linemen for their rushing attack. They have a good passing game and the O-Line did a nice job with that but I know they can run better and I think the more linemen they get in there, the better they'll be."
Rutgers -- "I still like Rutgers and will be visiting there this weekend. They came by (yesterday) morning."
Maryland -- "They came on Monday. They played pretty good all year in a tough ACC conference."
UConn -- "I'm still looking at them, considering them. They look like a running team."
So what will Bunche be looking for when it comes time to make a final decision?
"When it comes down to it, I'll look at the relationship I have with the offensive line coach and what school gives me the best opportunity," he said.
Bunche's senior season in football is over and he's now playing basketball.
