UM makes in-home with Porter

Curtis Porter made a summer commitment to the University of Miami when he picked the Canes over offers from schools like Florida and Florida State. We caught up with Porter to talk about all the latest.

"I'm taking my official visit down there this weekend," Curtis Porter said. "I'm real excited. I can't wait."

Porter, 6-foot-2 and 330 pounds, remains strongly committed to the Hurricanes and actually hosted a Miami coach for an in-home visit a few days ago.

"Coach Hill came last week," he said. "It went real well. We talked about everything about the program, what they're doing to be successful again, and different things like that."

Porter, who is expected to graduate early and enroll for the spring semester, talked more about his commitment to the Hurricanes.

"They had a nice year but it could have been better," he said. "They were real young this year, playing a lot of freshmen. I can't wait to get down there and get going on what I need to do to help makes things better."

The talented big man is fresh off a Defensive MVP performance of the Shine Bowl.

"It's the private school version of the top players from North Carolina against the top players from South Carolina," he said. "I really enjoyed it. Playing for the kids of the Shriner's Hospital was awesome. It brought a lot out of me. I had a fun time and I played pretty well."

Porter will be on Miami's campus this weekend for his official visit so stay tuned, as we'll have a full report of how that visit goes next weekend.
