Top OL Gets UM Offer

This offensive lineman prospect officially visited Miami this past weekend and he came away both impressed with the Hurricanes and with an offer in hand.

At 6-foot-6 and 335 pounds, Lancaster (Pa.) McCaskey offensive lineman Joel Holler received a big offer this past weekend.

"Miami offered me," Holler said. "I went down there for my official visit and had a great time. Joel Rodriguez was my host and I really had a good time checking everything out around the city with him. The players are great."

Holler had a chance to meet with UM head coach Larry Coker for the first time.

"Coach Coker was great," he said. "It was the first time I got to meet him. He's real laid back and a real nice guy. I also got to meet with Coach Kehoe some more. He actually came by the house last Thursday too."

Holler said he didn't hang out a lot with the other official visitors.

"I saw them at the hotel and when we ate and stuff," he said. "We really didn't hang out a lot though."

Holler said he was very impressed with the football program.

"It's awesome," he said. "The campus is beautiful. The weight room and football facilities are great. Plus the coaches were really nice."

The standout lineman said he had a chance to meet some of the UM players.

"All I can say is they sure do work hard," he said. "I can see why they're so successful."

The visit was the fourth for the big lineman.

"It's hard to compare with the other ones right now," he said. "I really liked them all. I've been to Ohio State, Virginia Tech, and Penn State. I'll go to Pitt on the 3rd of January and then sit down with my family and make a decision. The good thing is I now have offers from all five of them."

Holler said he reviewed the depth chart at UM.

"They need some linemen," he said. "They said they're going to be taking five in this year's class."

Offensive linemen Cyrim Wimbs, John Rochford, and Derrick Morse have already committed to the Hurricanes.
