Florida 3-star makes commitment

Antwan Lowery is a three-star defensive tackle prospect from Miami (Fla.) Columbus and he told Scout.com on Thursday night that he's made his college decision.

"I committed to Rutgers," Antwan Lowery said, announcing his commitment to the program where his older brother goes.

Lowery, 6-foot-3 and 330 pounds, landed several offers during the early part of the recruiting process and many thought he was a lock to become a Miami Hurricane.

After the Canes landed a couple other defensive tackle prospects, his planned announcement back on August 1 was pushed back. At the time, Lowery said he wasn't sure when he'd make a final decision.

He told us a few days ago that Miami is no longer in the picture for him and on Thursday, he decided to make the commitment.

"I like Rutgers a lot," he said. "I had a good visit there. My brother's there and I think it's a good program."

The talented big man, a three-star prospect on Scout.com, isn't completely done with the recruiting process yet.

"I still plan on taking my visit to Florida next month," he said.
