Super DE To Visit UM

This elite defensive end prospect has one official visit remaining and he is taking it at the University of Miami this upcoming weekend. He'll narrow his choice to two schools by Christmas. Read on to find out if UM makes the cut.

At 6-foot-6 and 270 pounds, Miami (Fla.) Braddock standout defensive end Tranell Morant will make his fifth and final visit of the year this weekend.

"I've already taken four and I had UM scheduled for January," he said. "But I'm thinking that I want to have it narrowed down to two going into Christmas."

Morant visited Florida this past weekend.

"It was tight," he said. "I liked the town, the coaches, the campus, everything. It was a real good visit."

Morant had already visited Auburn, Georgia, and Rutgers prior to going to Gainesville.

"I'd have to say Florida was the best visit so far," he said. "I'm not saying they're my favorite or anything, but that was my best visit. I'm going to Miami on Friday, this weekend, for my official visit. After that, I want to have it down to two."

Morant met with UM coach Randy Shannon on Monday and will meet with Florida coach Red Anderson on Wednesday.

"I like all the schools I'm looking at," he said. "Hopefully I'll be able to figure something out after this weekend. I don't really want to rush into a decision or anything but having only two schools on my list is a lot better than having five. It can get pretty hectic."

Morant said he's looking forward to his visit to UM.

"That's the local school and everything," he said. "I'll see how it compares to Florida and the other ones."

Morant has scholarship offers from all five of his favorites.
