Byrd talks about the new offense

Laron Byrd is coming off a solid true freshman season at Miami. Read on to see what he's saying about his relationship with Jacory Harris, his thoughts on the new offense, his goals for this season, and much more.

Q: How has the start of practice been?
A: Everyone is a little rusty. We just need loosen up and get it going. Everyone is progressing.

Q: What did you do in the two off-season months?
A: I spent of a lot of time working with Jacory. Just working on our timing and becoming more familiar with each other.

Q: What do you think of the new offense?
A: It is exciting. I think it gives us the chances to make al ot of plays. Coach Whipple has a lot of experience and it shows.

Q: How does Jacory look out there?
A: He has been great. He has a Peyton Manning mind with a Tom Brady arm.

Q: Is he this team's leader?
A: The guy always has been a leader. He's very composed in the pocket and he's very smart. He knows how to read coverages and pick defenses apart. He's only going to progress. His arm is 10 times better to me and his accuracy is pinpoint. It has really sunk in that he doesn't have to worry about transferring quarterbacks and wonder each game who is going to start. It's his team now.

Q: What is your goal for the season?
A: To get the BCS and win a national title. That should always be the goal.
