OL Has UM in Final Group

This offensive lineman recently took his official visit to Miami and came away impressed. He speaks about the visit and the other schools involved in his recruitment.

At 6-foot-5 and 300 pounds, Oak Lawn (Ill) Richards standout offensive/defensive lineman Mike Jones is widely considered one of the nation's top offensive line prospects.

The standout lineman is being recruited by all college programs to play offense. He's currently enjoying the recruiting process.

"It can be a bit hectic at times, but it's fun for the most part," Jones said. "I've learned a lot and that's what I wanted to do before I made a decision on where to spend the next four or five years of my life."

Jones has been on official visits to Notre Dame, Iowa, and Miami thus far.

"Miami was fun," he said. "I really liked it there. I wasn't sure on whether I was going to go and I'm glad I did. The campus was really nice, the weather was great, and I had a chance to meet and hang out with some of the guys on the team. Plus the coaches are real nice."

Jones is being recruited by offensive line coach Art Kehoe.

"He's a great guy," he said, "real funny. It's like he's just one of the guys but he's a great coach too."

Jones was one of several offensive linemen on his visit to Miami last weekend.

"It's interesting because all the other guys are committed to Miami," he said. "I guess it just worked out that way. They're all good guys and I think they're getting some good players. I could see myself playing with those guys."

Jones has two official visits left - Tennessee on Jan. 17 and either Michigan or Penn State.

"I'll take those last couple trips and then have a better idea," he said. "They have all offered me and they're all even in my mind right now. It's a tough decision but it's one I have to make."

Many believe it's going to be tough getting Jones out of the Midwest.

"A lot of people say that," he said. "But either way, it's leaving home. I have to go where I fit in the best and right now, I don't know where that's going to be."
