Hardin excited about this year's defense

Gavin Hardin is coming off a redshirt season and is primed to make a big impact at defensive end for the Hurricanes this season. CanesTime.com caught up with him so read on to see what he's saying about this year's defense, the depth, the rotation at end, and much more.

On spring:
I feel real good. There's a little wear and tear but it's all good. I'm ready.

On showing emotion last season from the sidelines:
I'm always in the game. I put all my heart into everything I do whether it's working out or practicing, everything.

On getting reps at defensive end this spring:
It feels good. I'm getting my defensive end technique down better, reading blocks better. It's going good for me.

On transitioning from playing LB in high school:
It's good. I'm eating down there. You gotta go get it.

On things you're working on:
I gotta work on my pass rush a little. I wanna get that down to a T. I wanna get those sacks.

On this year's depth on defense:
We got a heavy rotation at every position. Everything's going good.

On the DE rotation:
It's great. You can give 100 percent every play. You got competition and you gotta bring your A game every day. It's great to have that rotation and competition.

On learning from the older players:
Eric teaches me a lot. He knows what he's doing because he's a vet and I've learned a lot of good tips from him.

On how good this year's defense can be:
We can go all the way to the top if we play to our potential. We wanna get the U where it used to be.
