"I really didn't give it a whole lot of thought during the season," said Lewis, who ran a 10.64 100m as a junior last spring. "But then after seeing all those guys at the all star game in Texas, I started to think more and more about where I might want to go."
Lewis said he enjoyed the week in Texas but did not enjoy the game.
"I didn't like the way the offense was being run," he said. "We had the top quarterback on our team [Kyle Wright] and he was rotating every play. We couldn't get into any rhythem or anything."
The standout receiver talked more about Wright.
"I mean, I think he's a great player," he said. "I've seen what he can do and it's amazing. I think he's already at Miami. I chilled with him for a little while too."
So what did the two California standouts talk about?
"He was telling me all the good stuff about Miami and how he'd like to have me as a teammate to throw the ball too," he said. "I told him I'm considering it and I'll be taking a visit out there next weekend so we can talk some more."
Lewis said things are really starting to heat up on the recruiting front.
"Now is the time when the coaches can start coming in and out of the house and everything," he said. "It's a good problem to have because these guys really want me but it sometimes gets in the way if I want to just hang out with my friends or whatever, you know."
Lewis said he's narrowed his list down to four schools and he's only made a visit to one of them so far.
"I went to SC and had a blast," he said. "They have a great program, it's close to home, and they've really started to turn things around. But that doesn't mean they're my favorite or anything. I need to check out these other three schools before deciding on anything."
So who will be getting the next three visits?
"I leave for Arizona State this weekend," he said. "Then next weekend I go to Miami and then the last weekend in January, I'm going to Florida State. That'll give me four visits back to back. I should be able to draw up some pretty good comparisons."
So what does the standout receiver think about the Hurricanes?
"You know, that's Miami," he said. "It seems like they're competing for a championship every year. They have been producing some great receivers and they like to use them. I think I can go in there and play too. Plus Kyle's there trying to talk me into coming. I can't wait till my visit."
Lewis said he really hasn't given a lot of thought into naming a favorite.
"I've had a lot of different opinions on that," he said. "But they change. I really like all four of these ones. It'll be out of them and it'll depend on how well I fit into each of them."
