It was great. It was the first day with pads. We were excited. Overall, it was a good day. On being involved:
I was involved with the inside run period. It was the first time in full pads so we flew around today, made some plays on defense. It was fun out there.
On returning to action:
It's been awhile for me. It felt great out there. I'm just picking up the defense. Coach Lovett is doing a great job with that.
On the status of his shoulder:
It feels good. All summer I've been hitting the bags with my shoulder getting ready for this. Now I'm out running around and not having any problem.
On getting that first hit:
It makes you a little nervous but then it's just football. It's what I love to do. It feels great to be back on the field.
On Saturday's scrimmage:
I'm just trying to get better every day I'm out here. That's what camps are for. Mentally, I'm ready. Physically, I just continue to get stronger. I stay positive with the shoulder and go week-by-week and day-by-day.
On his role:
They got me doing mike and outside. Wherever the coaches put me, I'll play. I'm not too worried about it. I just wanna get out there and play football.
On the differences between MLB and OLB:
At mike, you run over the top and outside you're spilling. It's a little adjustment but Coach Lovett's working with me. The linebackers are coming together as a unit. I just wanna play.
On his shoulder being sore:
It's not sore at all, nothing. I've been getting treatment. I'll go to the ice after this. Coach Swasey has been doing a great job with everything.
On Jimmy Graham:
He looks good. He's catching balls out there. He caught one today when we did redzone. He looks good and it helps out a lot.
